Challenge your coding skills & have fun!

Ace of Coders 2023 brings coding and competition together in a 2 weeks-long Asia coding challenge for the top. We use the reputable CodeCombat multiple players arena algorithm challenge, which was used in the 33rd IOI competition for global top coding players from 87 countries and regions.

Based on the final ranking of different country finals in Asia regions, we're currently reaching out to those on the top of the leaderboard via email, WeChat, Facebook, WhatsApp and etc to verify information.

The winners will be announced on our website after the arena is closed. The first prize winners will be advanced to our global tournament - CodeQuest finals in August 2023.

Thank you to all the Ace of Coders 2023 Global Tournament participants who joined us this year, BEST LUCK!

Rules

General

  • Once you register you’ll get a direct link to the tournament ladder where you can spectate or enter to start coding.
  • The tournament for Asian players starts Friday, July 7 at 8:00AM CST and ends Friday, July 21 at 8:00PM CST.
  • The final day to register for the tournament is July 21 at 8:00PM CST.
  • You’ll find more directions and all the methods and properties you’ll need to set up your units once you join the arena.
  • Once the tournament ends, submissions will be locked for a final ranking and verification period.

Scoring

  • In each arena your code will play constantly in the background against other players to determine how strong it is.
  • The number of points you earn for a match are determined by a Bayesian calculation predicting how likely you were to win that match. So if you beat a player ranked higher than you, you gain more points. Beat a player lower than you, gain fewer points. Lose to a weaker player, lose more points. Lose to a stronger player, lose fewer points. Your code will play on both the red and blue teams.
  • You can test your code against any player and improve your strategy until you win, but remember: no points are scored until you submit your latest code and it starts to automatically play matches against other players.
  • After the tournament we would fully simulate and verify the final ranking with your latest code at the end of tournament.

Categories

  • We have 3 brackets to group players, Grade 1-6 for primary school students, Grade 7-12 for middle & high school students and Open Category which has no age limitations.
  • Your category is based on the age information we received from you. It reflects your registration information from your previous qualification tournament.
  • Open Category is served for those participants of teachers from schools and training centers and college students.
  • You will compete with your category to win the awards. Please verify your category carefully to make sure it is accurate.
Code Quest Global Committee has final discretion on determining and validating winners, all decisions are final.

Employees or contractors of CodeCombat are excluded from participating / winning prizes.

The winning percentage is as below: 20% for the first prize, 30% for the second prize, and 50% for the third prize. For example, if you place top 20% among other 1-6 graders, you win the first prize for the Grade 1-6 bracket listed in the Prize section.
  • If you have submitted code more than once, we will only count your latest submission when announcing prizes.
  • The first prize winners of all brackets will be advanced to our global tournament - CodeQuest finals in August. Verifying

  • We may ask players to identify themselves so that we can detect duplicate entries.
  • All players eligible for prizes agree that refusing to provide us with identifying information may lead to ineligibility for prizes.

Fair Play

  • You should work independently to write down the code and submit it. We encourage you to submit multiple times to improve your coding strategies and skills.
  • We will use technical screening to verify if your code is cheating or not. For those codes which copy from somewhere, they are rejected from the final awards.
